Construction work of the Aloko Buddhist Center has been put on hold since the Covid-19 situation first started. Nevertheless, we were left with only one unfinished kuti (a room), on the ground floor of the monks’ quarters, when work came to a halt. The unfinished room has been exposed to rainwater and dust; thus, it has started showing some signs of fast decaying.
We felt that this was not a good time for raising funds for construction since everyone is somehow affected by the pandemic.
Since some of you have shown interest in contributing to Kathina, we came up with an idea that you could instead contribute towards the construction of this unfinished kuti in conjunction with Kathina.
We have decided to complete the room before the Kathina Ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on 16 November 2021, and offer it to the Maha Sangha.
The estimated cost for the project which includes doors, windows, floor tiles and painting are as follows:
Doors and windows = Rs.110,000 (USD 545)
Floor tiles and labor = Rs.100,000 (USD 500)
Painting and other expenses = Rs.91,000 (USD 455)
