I named this place ‘ĀLŌKŌ BUDDHIST CENTER’ (ABC). “Ālōkō” means light. Ālōkō Buddhist Center will shine forth the light of wisdom (dhamma) and compassion upon thousands of sentient beings.

I have already started a charitable scholarship program for needy Sri Lankan students from poor families while residing in America and it still continues to-date. After setting up this center, I wish to reach more donors and support more beneficiaries.
Welcome Center for Buddhism
There is no doubt that Sri Lanka is the best place for seekers wanting to know more about Theravada Buddhism. This is because we have the intellect and resources readily available for beginners and scholars alike. Our center will open its doors to such individuals to come and get their basic Buddhist studies. We also provide consultation for those interested in furthering their studies and will assist them in finding accommodation, etc.
Buddhist Wellness & Consultation
Living in the West for almost a decade, I have seen the growing interest people have for Mindfulness Meditation and Buddhist practices in general. We welcome and will provide such travelers with basic guidance of Mindfulness meditation and Buddhist practices. A Mindfulness meditation retreat will be added into the calendar when the center becomes fully functional.
Propagating Buddhism on the Internet
The world is moving fast towards an AI (Artificial Intelligence) based smart world and that seems inevitable. Smartphones and devices are rapidly becoming a must have tool in our daily lives. TVs and radios are slowly becoming things of the past. Knowledge, information, news, music and entertainment are gained via one small handheld smart device. Keeping this in mind and not wanting to be left behind, we too need to find our place in cyberspace.
I describe myself as “I’m a monk with a computer”. While I was in America I learnt web-designing and gained sufficient knowledge on Information Technology in general. As my first project, I created a website named BUDDHISTPAGE.COM. Ālōkō Buddhist Center will be the head office for this website once it is set up. I wish to develop this up to the standard of any other professional educational website. In addition to this, creating content for social media, online Buddhist publications and live webcasts will be done to propagate Buddhism.
